The service and professionalism was perfect, the doctor was informative and nice! Jess was so incredibly helpful with adjusting them and providing suggestions on how I can ensure future sunglasses fit best when I buy them. We took a look their large selection and set up an appointment for a week later. The appointment and frame cutting was quick and the person who helped us was very nice and not pushy. There were treats, coffee, and drinks available too.

Meet Dr. Tyler Baars

Dr. Tyler Baars has been practicing optometry since 2012, but his love for eyewear started at 17, when he worked for his hometown optometrist in Michigan selling sunglasses. After studying at Indiana University and practicing across the Midwest, he made Minnesota home in 2015, completing what he calls a “very thorough Midwest tour.”

In 2017, Dr. Baars joined Spectacle Shoppe, immediately calling it “glasses heaven.” His personal tagline, Sight for Sore Eyes, reflects his fun, approachable style and dedication to making every patient feel comfortable and well cared for. He enjoys meeting new people, building lasting relationships, and helping patients feel confident in their vision—and if you’ve been nervous about the air puff, Uptown offers a gentler, more accurate glaucoma test.

Outside the office, Dr. Baars loves traveling (Barcelona is a favorite), attending concerts (Beyoncé holds a special place in his playlist), enjoying great coffee, and spending time with family and friends. A lifelong fashion and design enthusiast, he believes eyewear should be both functional and expressive. While the expert staff handles most frame choices, he’s always happy to help with the tiebreaker, ensuring your vision and eye health are in perfect focus.
